1. The Basics
Top
What does RipDigital do?
RipDigital's Basic and Premium service converts your music CDs into a digital music library perfectly organized by artist, album and genre. You send us your CDs and we send back digital music files (along with your CDs) - playable on all Apple products (iPhone, iPod, etc,) and other leading portable music players. Your music will also be fully compatible with iTunes, Windows Media Player, Media Monkey and other music software programs. Our High Fidelity service provides lossless music audio files (no audio compression) that, depending on the type of file, will be compatible with Apple Products, Sonos, and many leading high end music servers.
The alternative is best described by TimeOut New York in a story about RipDigital when the company began: "If A represents your complete music collection on CD, and B is the amount of time it takes to convert one CD into a digital MP3 file, then A x B = one long project."  Why spend your precious time on this world monotonously ripping CDs? Let us do the work for you.

What does the service cost?
RipDigitial's conversion service ranges from $0.99/CD to $1.49/CD depending on level of audio fidelity. We think of this choice as "good, better, best". Our basic service is $0.99/CD for the MP3 192 format but most clients opt for higher fidelity with MP3 320 ($1.29/CD). Want a exact audio copy of the CD? Then choose a lossless audio format (ALAC, FLAC) at $1.49/CD. Hard disk storage space has gotten so inexpensive that it often makes sense to get the higher fidelity files since you only want to do this project once. Why not opt for the best fidelity that works for your setup? In addition, we offer a volume discount for orders over 500 CDs.
Please see our order page to place an order. For orders larger than 500 CDs, please contact us.

How do I load CDs I purchase after RipDigital converts my collection?
While converting an entire CD collection is very time consuming, conversion of a single new CD does not take much time or effort.
Even better - now that all your music is digital, consider buying your new music online instead of trudging to the store to purchase new CDs. Experience the simplicity and convenience of online music digital music by visiting Apple's iTunes Store and MusicMatch's Store.
Top
Is the music RipDigital returns to me CD quality?
Yes. RipDigital's default configuration for converting your CD collection is 192 kbps MP3, while most player software packages claim 128 kbps to be CD quality.
The higher bit-rate at which RipDigital encodes guarantees you even better sound quality than you would experience using CD quality on the most popular players. That said, virtually all encoding technologies compress your music. Though indistinguishable to even the most tuned ears, the technical truth is that encoded music is not exactly the same as the original.

'
Yes. RipDigital is committed to copyright protection and has actively taken steps to protect the rights of artists and music labels. RipDigital has implemented the following steps to protect copyright:

  • RipDigital includes a unique identifying mark with each file to encourage responsible use of digital music.
  • RipDigital requires that customers take responsibility for ownership of their CDs and agree not to upload music onto file sharing services.
